Double-deck boats are available to travel for 3-4 hours, with a houseboat costing Rs 600 per hour. One must be in Kerala at no cost.
5. Watch the Snake Boat Race in Alleppey
Watching colorful Snake Boat races at Alleppey in Kerala is one of the most wonderful things to do. In most cases snake boat races take place during the Onam Festival from July to September, and watching this fascinating celebration is one of the best plays in Kerala. You can also hire a boat from nearby to watch the race and cheer for your favorite team, all running one by one. Alleppey is the nearest station from Ernakulam.
6. Take a Spice Tour Thekkady
Take a tour of Munnar, Thekkady, or Wayanad's spice plantations or gardens. Try some authentic black pepper, cardamom, cinnamon, and exotic vanilla on a nature walk in the farms. It is one of Kerala's leading events. Most of the hotels provide such tours in their packages, but you can also visit the Spice Garden of Abraham in Thekkady for yourself. Spices can also be bought from the workshop in the spice garden itself at subsidized rates.
7. Sanctuary of Periyar Wildlife Taking A Jeep
Thekkady should be on the top list of places in Kerala for one of the most interesting activities in Kerala and its forests. Thekkady is considered to have a rich woodland, birds, mammals, and aquatic life, about 190 km from Kochi. The trip through the Periyar jungle overlooks the magnificent city of Idukki, Mullaperiyar dam, the luscious green vegetable farm, the vast vineyards, and the endangered macaque with lion's tail. Have a truly rural experience in the integrated tourist village of Kumbalangi. In Kerala, there are several activities including exploring local paddy farming, canoeing in mangrove forests, fishing, crab cultivation. In the village, there are a lot of homestays that visitors can book. Ernakulam Train Station is 14 km from the village. So, by renting a car or bus it is very easy for you to get there.
