What are luxury vehicles, to be precise In my books, a luxury car should suffice the end-user with impeccable levels of comfort while imposing its presence throughout the streets. Moreover, a luxury car should be powered by a massive – or rather supremely powerful – engine to effortlessly lug around that surplus weight. A seven-seat layout is an added bonus for an SUV, while extra legroom works in favor of a luxury sedan. Moreover, advanced technological gizmos are somewhat expected in this segment too.
Like every other luxury carmaker, Audi excels in making luxury cars. It has a bunch of cars in its product portfolio, with more set to join the line-up in 2021. So, for today, we’re going to be talking about all the cars Audi is set to bring to the Indian market this year. Here goes.
Audi E-Tron
The Audi E-Tron is, hands down, one of the most anticipated electric vehicles in the Indian market. And, believe us, it’s really good. With all the technology and sophisticated engineering, the E-Tron is going to be a very pricey car, even pricier than the newly launched Mercedes-Benz EQC. But if Audi cars India manages to price it near its only rival, it could be the new segment leader in the market. We’ll have to wait and see till the second quarter of this year on how that turns out.
Audi S5 Sportback
The Audi S5 Sportback is expected to make its return in the Indian market this year. In fact, this could very well be Audi India’s second launch slated for this year, right after the recently launched 2021 Audi A4. Audi has been teasing the S5 Sportback for a while, and it now seems to be very close to its launch date than ever. The Audi S5 Sportback will be powered by a 3.0-liter turbo-petrol engine capable of producing 349bhp and 500Nm of torque. The power is sent to all four wheels via an 8-speed automatic gearbox.
Audi Q7 Facelift
The Audi Q7, which used to be the segment-leader when it was on sale in the Indian market, was discontinued when the BS-VI emission norms came into force. Audi is gearing up to bring back its Q7, which will now sit under the Q8 in the brand’s SUV line-up. Being a facelift, expect Audi to slightly tweak the exterior of the older car and slightly revamp the interiors as well. It will be powered by a 4.0-litre V8 diesel that produces a peak torque output of a mammoth 900Nm., which will be paired to a 48-volt electrical system powered up by a 13kw lithium-ion battery.
Audi Q3 New
Unlike the Q7, the smaller Q3 will be receiving a full generation update, which will bring it more in line with the larger Q8. Therefore, expect sharper styling, more equipment, snazzier looks, and a plusher cabin overall. The all-new Q3 was first showcased in 2018. It was expected to be launched in 2020 but was delayed following the coronavirus pandemic. Moreover, unlike before, the Q3 won’t be tagged as the entry-level SUV from the manufacturer, as it now has the smaller Q2 for that tagline. Expect it to arrive at your nearest Audi dealerships sometime later this year.
Audi A3 New
Just like is the case with the Q3, the A3 is also going to receive a major update, which will bring it in line with the more modern and sophisticated machines from the manufacturer. It will be the second-generation update of the A3 sedan. Expect it to share most of its underpinnings with the new Q3. This time around, it will be powered by either a 150bhp 1.5-litre TFSI petrol unit with 48V mild-hybrid system or a 2.0-litre TDI making similar power. A seven-speed gearbox is going to standard for both the powertrain, which could be a DCT unit for the petrol and a torque converter unit for the diesel. We expect Audi to launch the all-new A3 around the second quarter of this year.
